Interwound coils are suitable for use in high-frequency and ultra-high-frequency circuits, ferrite inductanceand when the number of turns is less than 3 to 5 turns, it can have better characteristics without a skeleton, with a high Q value, up to 150-400, and high stability. The single-layer close-wound coil is suitable for short-wave and medium-wave circuits, and its Q value can reach 150-250 and has high stability.

 

(2) Ensure the current carrying capacity and mechanical strength of the coil, and select the appropriate wire

The coil should not be wound with too thin wire, and the coil resistance should be avoided to reduce the Q value. If the wire is too thin, its current carrying capacity and mechanical strength are small, and it is simply burned or broken. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring the current carrying capacity and mechanical strength of the coil, it is necessary to choose the appropriate wire winding.

Between a few hundred thousand hertz and several megahertz, coils in the medium-wave broadcast segment are usually made with a ferrite core and wound with multiple strands of insulated wire. When the frequency is higher than a few MHz, high-frequency ferrite is used as the core of the coil, and an air-core coil is also commonly used. In this case, it is not advisable to use multi-strand insulated wire but to use single-strand coarse silver-plated wire winding. At 100MHz or more, a ferrite core can usually not be used, only a hollow coil can be used, and a steel core can be used for fine tuning. In addition to the inductance and rated current that should meet the requirements of the circuit, the distributed capacitance of the choke used in high-frequency circuits should not be too large.
