A transformer is a device that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to change the alternating current voltage. The main components are the primary coil, the secondary coil, and the iron core (magnetic core). The models of commonly used transformers can be summarized as follows

 

1. According to the number of phases:

Features of high-frequency Transformers

 

1. Current distribution

A typical high-frequency transformer has several coils connected in parallel to the secondary windings. Each secondary winding is coupled to the same primary winding. Therefore, the number of turns that occur in the secondary winding is the same as the number of turns that occur in the primary winding (negligent excitation current). This feature is particularly useful for parallel rectifier circuits. The winding current is evenly distributed, so there is no need for a current sharing resistor or other components in a parallel rectifier circuit.

 

2. High power density

Because of its small size, high-frequency transformer components have excellent temperature dissipation characteristics, so they can be tightly packaged with related semiconductor devices and inductors to achieve high power density. Its current density can be up to 30A/module.

 

3. High power

Adjust the leakage inductance so that it can have a very fast switching time and low interpolation loss, so that it can reach a high power. The turn-to-turn conduction loss between the secondary and primary windings of this transformer is very small.

4. High current density

High-frequency transformers have exceptional temperature rise characteristic planning. Because of these characteristics, it can reach high current densities in very small packages.

The whole high-frequency transformer is composed of a few related cheap components, and the assembly is very convenient, so the cost of the transformer is very low.

 

6. Save the cost of components connected with it

Because of its low leakage inductance, the switching losses are low, and the stress applied to the parts connected to it is reduced. Therefore, the components connected to it can use low-power rated components with low cost.

7. Excellent heat dissipation characteristics

High-frequency transformers are small components with a high surface-to-volume ratio and very short hot aisles. Good for heat dissipation. The inter-turn losses between the primary and secondary windings are small. The unique geometry of this core effectively reduces core losses. So it can achieve a high magnetic flux density. It can operate between -40 °C and 130 °C.

 

8. Low walk-and-drain inductance

Good coupling between windings and windings keeps the leakage inductance between winding turns at a minimum. The connection from the output to the auxiliary parts is very short and tightly mounted, so the leakage inductance on the wires between the windings is also small.

 

9. Excellent high frequency characteristics

Previously, when the transformer was operating at high frequencies, the switching losses increased and the transformer overheated. The presentation of the plate transformer solves these problems. The flat plate transformer can be planned as a high-frequency transformer, providing a transformer module that is both economical and good. It can operate between 100kHz and 500kHz.

 

10. Simple structure

High-frequency transformers are made up of a few components and few windings, which are particularly suitable for automated installations.

 

11. Low profile

The magnetic cores used in flat plate transformers are small and can be placed on the surface of the flat plate. Each core unit is in the range of 8 mm-25 mm.

 

12. High dielectric strength

High-frequency transformers are easy to insulate according to the required number of insulation layers and thickness. Dielectric insulation can be carried out according to the customer's requirements for leakage distance. The withstand voltage between the primary and secondary windings is greater than 40,000V.
