Product Introduction

 

PCB assembly flexible: referred to as flexible board. It is made of a conductor circuit pattern by using light imaging pattern transfer and the etching process method on the surface of a flexible substrate. The surface and inner layer of the double-sided and multi-layer circuit board are electrically connected through metallization holes, and the surface of the circuit pattern is protected and insulated by PI and an adhesive layer.

 

It is mainly divided into single-sided, hollow board, double-sided, multi-layer board, and rigid-flex board.

 

There are three main categories of auxiliary materials for FPC:

 

1. Coverlay, also known as coverlay or encapsulation, is a material that combines the same insulating material and glue as the substrate, mainly to protect the FPC circuit from short circuits and play the role of a solder mask.

 

The protective film is generally a three-layer structure: insulating material polyimide (PI), glue, release paper; the colour is mainly yellow, white, black, etc.; now, in order to meet the special requirements of some customers, there are also rainbow colours and green protective films, but the price is generally more expensive. In fact, in addition to the yellow and black protective films, other colours of protective films are brushed with a layer of ink on the insulating material, which will increase the thickness of the protective film.

 

The thickness of polyimide (PI), the protective film insulation material, is 0.5mil, 1mil, 2mil, etc.

The thickness of the protective film adhesive layer is 15um, 20um, 25um, 35um, 50um, etc.

2. Stiffener: It is a hard material added to the local area of FPC for welding or strengthening, and its main function is to support and enhance the mechanical strength and stability of the local area. There are generally three types of reinforcement materials:

 

(1) Polyimide (PI) reinforcement: Generally used for plugging and unplugging the back of the gold finger to increase the thickness and mechanical strength of the FPC to fit the connector terminals, with a thickness of 0.05 mm–0.275 mm.

 

(2) FR-4 reinforcement: generally used for the support behind the chip or IC, which can effectively increase the mechanical strength of the FPC and improve its ability to resist bending and tensile resistance, with a conventional thickness ranging from 0.1 mm to 1.5 mm.

 

(3) Metal reinforcement: the material is steel sheet, aluminium sheet, copper sheet reinforcement, etc.; the supporting role is similar to FR-4, but it is relatively greater than FR-4. It can be heat dissipated, grounded, and has higher flatness characteristics. It is mostly used in high-end chips, ICs, or on some special application occasions. The conventional thickness ranges from 0.1 mm to 0.4 mm, and other thicknesses can also be customized.

 

3. Other auxiliary materials: electromagnetic shielding film, pure adhesive film, pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA), conductive adhesive film, PP, etc.

 

The main function of electromagnetic shielding film is to resist electromagnetic interference, and it is used in 3C products such as notebook computers, GPS, and mobile phones.

 

Pure adhesive film is an acrylic adhesive system that is mainly used for bonding between reinforcing glue (FR-4, steel sheet, etc.) or multi-layer flexible boards.

 

Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) is a double-sided adhesive material commonly available in the 3M series and the Tesla series, with high temperature resistance and non-high temperature resistance. High-physical-geographic area resistant adhesive is generally used for reflow soldering and can also be used for reinforcing glue.

 

The structure of the conductive adhesive film is similar to that of the pure adhesive film. The difference is that the adhesive contains conductive particles, which can be connected with the metal reinforcement to play a grounding role, and is typically used for metal reinforcement and grounding.

 

PP is mainly used for the bonding of FPC and PCB in rigid-flex board (R-FPC) or between PCBs.
